efikoko: A love story

EFIKOKO is a creative studio sprouted from the heart of Ediomi — photographer, marketing maven, and proud Nigerian American. Aptly named, the studio is an homage to her late father, Efiong Utuk who passed away in 2006.  His name was "Efi” for short and her mom’s special name for him was "Koko". The two names together represent and honor their love, impeccable style and amazing union forever. Ediomi has been in the modeling industry for over 13 years. Her career began as an intern for Ikon Model Management in NYC. Through her internship she paid close attention to the intricacies needed to run a successful agency as well as how to be a successful model. Following her fierce passion, she booked her first commercial print job shortly thereafter and went on to model and walk for a blend of high-fashion brands and indie fashion entrepreneurs. Efikoko combines this experience with her love for teaching, styling, and photography to provide services for aspiring and established models.

Throughout college and after graduating from Rutgers University-Newark with Honors in Marketing, Ediomi coordinated and hosted many fashions shows and fashion fundraisers. Her commercial print work has been featured in many publications including Hype Hair Magazine, Black Enterprise, Mizani USA, Essence, and Munaluchi Bridal Magazine.

Entrepreneurship and nonprofits have been her passion since she was a little girl so modeling for them is no different. Ediomi has worked closely with designers and been a spokesmodel for brands including Bebenoir Boutique, Eldenwa Designs, the Latino Bridal Expo, 5 Continents Award Show, Determined to Educate, Hennessy Moet Brands USA, Evelyn’s Kitchen and Sarah Small’s Tableau Vivant of Delirium Constructions.

After graduating from Rutgers University-Newark with Honors in Marketing she began to cultivate her love for photography. Trained under the world infamous street photographer, Akintola Hanif, she quickly developed an eye for street style which naturally became the driving source of inspiration for images.

Ediomi is trained in the Grotowski theater technique; an authentic movement and improvisation practice, and the Linklater technique; a primitive voice and essential actor imagery technique. She has studied Film and TV acting at The Barrow Group, NYC.

In 2017 Ediomi received her certificate in Image Consulting from the Center of Continuing and Professional Studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She has also received her Color Expert certification from Image Resource Center of New York.
